Kansas City Star, Kansas City, Missouri, February 16, 1915, Page 2: Died In a Police Ambulance. Walter Smith, 43 years old, an oil salesman, died this morning in a Kansas-side police motor ambulance. Five years ago Smith lost his sight. He spent all the money he had in an effort to see again, but opticians finally gave up. Three months ago he was discharged from the Wyandotte County Hospital. Recently it was decided to send him back, and the ambulance called for him this morning. He died on the way to the courthouse, where he was to be turned over to the hospital. Death was due to heart disease.
