Martha Kleinhans

Published in Statesman Journal on Jan. 10, 2011: SALEM - Martha Pratt passed away peacefully and will now join the rest of her brothers and sisters in that better place. Martha was born to Weber and Mary Jane Kleinhans, in Somers, Montana in January 1918. She was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. After graduating from Kalispell high school, she went on to nurses training at the Deaconess hospital in Great Falls, Montana. While there she met and married the love of her life Raymond E. Pratt. They moved to Portland, Oregon, where they had Barbara, their first child. Then after moving back to Montana for a short while, they then moved back to Oregon settling in Salem. There she worked at Salem General Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1981. She is survived by her son, Larry; grandchildren, Amy (Dino) Starinieri, Christopher (Bonni) Pratt; and great-grandchildren, Samuel, Elizabeth and Anne Pratt. After retiring she took up square dancing, calligraphy, and joined the women's group at church. There will be a celebration of life at 1:30 p.m., January 15, at Englewood UMC, 17th St. and Nebraska St. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Jason Lee food bank, the Willamette Valley Hospice, or charity of your choice.
