Samuel Houston Brodnax

Posted at findagrave.com: Joined Georgia 2nd Regiment and protected railroads through the Battle of Chickamauga; witnessed the death of General Polk from a front-line trench; participated in the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. Later joined Wheeler's 2nd Georgia Cavalry, raided into Tennessee and followed Sherman to Savannah and north. Wounded and sent home again. Opened a mercantile business and flourished, married, and also got into banking and the Georgia state legislature. Also an article and photos of Samuel and Edda posted there.

Walnut Grove, Ga.---May 13 (AP) Samuel Houston Brodnax, 88, well-known citizen of Walton county, and former president of the Brodnax Banking company, died suddenly at his home here Thursday night. He is survived by his wife, three sons, J. C. Brodnax, of Walton county; S. E. Brodnax, credit manager of the Fulton National bank, Atlanta, and George H. Brodnax, Atlanta, in charge of government secret service.
