Orville Clarence Lee

The Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa, Monday, October 25, 2004: Orville Lee, born July 30, 1913, near Salem, he was the son of Elvert [Elbert] and Linnie Denny Lee. On Oct. 26, 1933, he married Dolores M. Perkins in Ottumwa. She died Dec. 24, 1993.

Mr. Lee built and operated Starlite Motel in Cantril, was a farmer, and was Van Buren County sheriff for 23 years, retiring in 1972. He was an active member of Iowa Sheriffs and Deputies Association.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Lee of Keosauqua and Gary Lee of Fenton, Mo.; and six grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Lee will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery southeast of Keosauqua. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 903 Country Lane Drive, Keosauqua, IA 52565.
