Mable Enloe

Posted at findagrave.com: Platteville---Mable Hansen, age 103, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center, Platteville. She was born on Aug. 3, 1899, in New Hartford, Iowa, to the late Eugene and Margaret (Pyrtherch) Enloe. She married Walter Melvin Hansen on Jan. 15, 1918, in Rewey. She lived in Rewey, Galena, Ill., Cuba City, and Abbotsford.

After the death of her husband in 1956, she returned to UW-Platteville and got a library certification. She was an avid reader and continued doing so up to her death. She was proud of the fact that she still subscribed to two newspapers and able to read and comprehend each. During her lifetime she was an active member of Cuba City United Methodist Church, Ladies Aid Society, Wisconsin State Historical Society, The Federated Women's Club, and was a charter member of the George Reams DAR chapter, Platteville.

She was a firm believer in education and saw to it that each of her four children received college degrees. She was proud of the fact that the Enloe's lived in Wisconsin before Wisconsin became a state in 1848. She was equally proud that a member of the family had seen service in all wars from the American Revolutionary War through the Vietnam War.

She is survived by two sons, Walter C. Hansen of Kettering, Ohio, and Randall W. (Jane) Hansen of Hopkins, Minn.; a daughter, Margaret (Dalton) Fleege of Waupaca; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Clifford (Anne) Enloe of St. Louis, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Hansen; a daughter, Madge Ehrenwald; her parents; three brothers, Ashel, Thomas, and Clifford Enloe; and two sisters, Anne Hanson and Mary Caves.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2003, at Cuba City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robb McClintock will officiate. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville.
