Amarillo Globe-News, Amarillo, Texas, Tuesday, August 19, 2014: STRATFORD - Leslie D. Dodson, 83, of Stratford died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014. Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. today in Stratford Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church in Texhoma with Chris Hodges, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Stratford. Leslie was born July 28, 1931, in Perryton to Frank and Maude Willey Dodson. He spent most of his life in Stratford. He married the love of his life, Joyce Haney, in 1954. Leslie was very proud to have honorably served his country as a Marine during the Korean War. He enjoyed being a tax assessor and land and cattle appraiser. Leslie was awarded Citizen of the Year in Stratford. He was a member of Farm Bureau and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Leslie had a passion for being a farmer and rancher. He was a member of First Christian Church in Texhoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Lyons; and a sister, Frankie DePue. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Dena Ammons and husband Drexel and Brenda Forehand, all of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Sarah Weathers, Jud Siewert and Mack Forehand, all of Amarillo.
