The Sun News, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Wednesday, May 21, 1997: Marion---James Blair ''Jimmy'' Carter Jr., 50, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997. He was born in York County, a son of the late James Sr. and Effie Matthews Carter. Mr. Carter was owner and operator of Jimmy Carter's Fireworks and Cottonland in Pee Dee. He was a Vietnam veteran. Survivors include a son, James Carter III of Marion; two brothers, Lex Carter Sr. of Rock Hill and David Carter of Hinesville, Ga.; and a sister, Helen Yarborough of Chester. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Richardson-Miles Funeral Home in Marion. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at his farm in the Laughlin community of Marion.
