Published in Star-Telegram on May 25, 2013: Gene Kalal, 55, of Southlake passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Sunday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Gene was devoted to his wife, Dana, for 28 years. Their two wonderful sons, Alex and Mick, will miss his selfless attitude and how he was always first to volunteer to help. Gene was born in Chicago, Ill., in 1958. He was adored by his mother, Helene, and was a loving brother to his sister, Cara Mason. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Gene Harold Kalal.
