The Spokesman-Review, Spokane, Washington, Saturday, March 29, 1997: Visitation for Alva Sophia Bare, 92, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church in Fairfield. Burial will at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Bare, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday. She graduated from North Central High School and Cheney Normal School. Mrs. Bare was a teacher in Peach, Mount Hope and Diamond Grove, Wash., and in 1930 she married William Bare. In 1972 Mr. Bare died, and that same year, Mrs. Bare moved to Spokane. She moved to California about two years ago to be near a son. She is survived by two sons, Alan Bare of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Gerald Bare of Los Angeles; a daughter, Dorean Bare of Adrian, Mich.; a brother, Ralph Peterson of Sagle, Idaho; a sister, Betty McPherson of Deer Park; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Memorial contributioins may be made to the Mount Hope Cemetery.
