Thomas Pitchegrue Exum

Exum, aged 62, long-time member of the Little Rock Fire Department, died at his home, 2304 Wolfe street, Tuesday as he was preparing to go to work. He joined the North Little Rock Fire Department December 20, 1906, as a hoseman and became chief of the department in 1909, serving eight years. When North Little Rock was incorporated, July 29, 1917, he joined the Little Rock Fire Department as a Ladderman on truck No. 1. He was promoted to driver in November, 1919, and was made a lieutenant August 11, 1930. He was a charter member of North Little Rock Elks Club, a member of the Order of American Firemen and of Woodman of the World. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Exum; one sister, Mrs. John Walker of Searcy, and an aunt, Mrs. Cora Neill of Little Rock. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Griffin-Leggett.
