He was born in Alma, Ark., and lived in the Kansas City area 58 years. He was employed 13 years in the maintenance division of Jackson County Parks and Recreation and retired in 1975. He survivors include his wife, Freeda Gillmore of the home; a son, Fred L. Gillmore, Sugar Creek; a daughter, Patricia Downs, Holt; two step daughters Bess Hampton, Springfield, and Doris Soderstadt, Independence; a brother, Arthur Gillmore, Chino, Calif.; a sister, Lucille Summers, Kansas City; and 11 grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the Carson Independence Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.
