Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Friday, September 30, 1983, Page 19, Col. 3: Neelyville---Herbert Elvin Nixon, 67, of Star Route, Neelyville, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday at his home. He was a retired electrician. He moved to Butler County from Las Vegas in April of this year. He was born Feb. 24, 1916, at Harviell. On Jan. 3, 1942, he was married to Grace Wiley at Chicago. She died Sept. 23, 1981. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Shriner and a member of the Masonic lodge. Surviving are two daughters, Bea Mills of Neelyville and Nina Glasgow of Flint, Mich.; one son, Ralph Nixon of Neelyville; and one brother, Frank Nixon of Poplar Bluff. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Parrent Funeral Home in Naylor. Burial will be in Cochran Cemetery near Harviell. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
