Marian I. Stevens

Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Bozeman, Montana, Saturday, August 24, 1996: Marian Foster Westfall passed away of natural causes on Thursday Aug. 22, 1996, at the Gallatin Valley Rest Home. She was born Jan. 6, 1902, in Decorah, Iowa, to Luman Dwight Stevens and Edna (Blanchard) Stevens. She came to the Gallatin Valley at the age of 2, and received her education at various schools in the valley. She married Arthur Foster in Bozeman on Aug. 31, 1921. They lived in the Gallatin Canyon. He passed away in 1951. She married Harry S. Westfall in Bozeman in 1959. They lived in Bozeman where she worked as a Practical Nurse. Harry passed away in 1984. Marian remained in Bozeman, living at Legion Villa until 1990 when she became a resident of the Gallatin Rest Home. She had a gift of writing poetry and enjoyed making and collecting dolls. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Christian Church, Gallatin Canyon Women's Club, the Gallatin Gateway Willing Workers Ladies' Aid, and the Senior Center.

Marian is survived by a daughter and son in law, Arty and Tom Parac of Bozeman; son and daughter in law, Roy and Joyce Foster, Bozeman; brother Dean Stevens, brother and sister in law Norman and Anna Stevens, sisters Nila Morrison and Lynne Head, all of Eureka, Calif.; grandson and wife Wade and Penny Parac, Tucson, Ariz.; granddaughter and husband Kimberly and Merrel Kesler, Los Osos, Calif.; granddaughter and husband Wendy and Albert Dickson, Manchester, Mo.; grandsons Russel Foster, Anchorage, Alaska; Bruce Goshorn, Phoenix, Ariz. and granddaughter Joni Goshorn, Windsor, Calif.; two great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son Emmet Foster in 1929 and by three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at the Dokken Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grand Avenue Christian Church, 110 S. Grand Ave., Bozeman, Mont., 59715, or to the Willing Workers Ladies' Aid, c/o Shirley Hinz, Gallatin Gateway, Mont., 59730.
