The Modesto Bee, Modesto, California,Thursday, July 11, 1996: April 15, 1933 -- July 9, 1996---Theodore "Ted" Furnish, 63, of Merced died Tuesday at a local hospital. Mr. Furnish was a native of Malta, Mont. He had lived in Merced since 1989. He served in the Army 24 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Verna Furnish of Merced; children, Theodore Furnish Jr. of Modesto, Bill Furnish of Los Banos, Theresa McCoy of Waterford, Debbie Furnish of Merced and Pam Morton of El Centro; brother, Clark Voorhees of Santa Cruz; sisters, Molly Keesling of Aptos, Maryanna Alfano of Santa Cruz, June Niimi of Colorado and Marie Nichols of Texas; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, Los Banos. Burial will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella. Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1325, Merced 95341-1325.
