Miami Daily News Record, Miami, Oklahoma, Tuesday, January 4, 1972, Page 3, Col. 4: Drexel Swanson of Columbia, Mo., formerly of Miami, died Monday in Sioux Valley hospital, Sioux Falls, D. D., of injuries received Dec. 18 while a passenger in a one-car accident near Rock Rapids, S. D. Driver of the car, Wayne Lucas, also of Columbia, was killed in the accident. The two men, employees of M & M Steel Erect Co., of Hamburg, Iowa, were en route home for Christmas holidays at the time of the accident. Mr. Swanson, an Air Force veteran of World War II, was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Christian church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Swanson, and four children, , Philip Frank Drexell II and Babette, all of the home; another daughter, Mrs. Lenn McPeak and three grandchildren of Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. John Payne of 922 Fifth northwest, Miami, is a sister. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be held at Hill City, Kan. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Ralph Bethel in Hill City.
