Christy Lee Kite, 63, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in Austin, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1951. She spent her early years in St. Louis, but prior to her senior year of high school she moved with her parents to Las Vegas, Nevada where she graduated from Las Vegas HS. She attended Arizona State University where she played on the ASU Golf Team and graduated with honors. After graduation, she returned to Las Vegas where she taught middle school math and science. In January 1975 after school, while playing golf with her mother at the Desert Inn CC, she met her husband; Tom Kite Jr. After marriage in October 1975, Christy traveled the PGA Tour with Tom and was with him throughout his Tour career. Traveling full time until the children got in school and part time thereafter, she was his main support as he competed at the highest level in golf. After their three children became school age she became a stay at home mom, and dedicated herself to becoming the best mother any kid could want. Goal achieved. She loved traveling, knitting, and spending time with her family and good friends.
Christy is survived by her husband, Tom Kite Jr., their children, Stephanie Kite Jones and her husband Kight Jones of Birmingham, AL, Paul Christopher Kite of New York, NY and David Thomas Kite, his wife Hunter Feemster Kite of Charleston, SC and their daughter, Adaya Leigh Kite. A celebration of Christy's life will be held in the Smith Family Chapel at Riverbend Church on Tuesday, January, 27, 2015 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dell Children's Hospital of Central Texas or The First Tee of Greater Austin.
