Houston Chronicle, Houston, Texas, Friday, June 4, 1999: Keeter Skelton, 78, a well-known figure in the news business for many years, died Wednesday in Pine Haven Home in Sugar Land after a lengthy illness. Skelton, widow of Associated Press bureau chief Max Skelton, was a manager of the Press Club of Houston, and conducted the Chronicle's Goodfellows program for several years. Nicknamed Keeter as a child, the name stuck. A resident of Houston since 1922, she graduated from the Methodist Hospital nursing program in 1941 and was a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She is survived by a son, Stanton Mazza; two sisters, Jo Kegans and Betty Rose, and one granddaughter. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave.
