The Dallas Morning News, Dallas, Texas, Wednesday, December 12, 2007: Sears, Viola Grace---Viola Grace Apple was the daughter of Cecil V. Apple and Faye Olee Lochridge. She was born December 27, 1922 in McKinney, Texas. V.G. was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a friend to all that were fortunate enough to meet her. She was a very thoughtful, caring, and compassionate lady. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years L. A. Lonnie Sears and her son Jack Randall Sears. She is survived by daughter Joy Sue Stephens and husband Pete of Plano, son Lonnie Sears and wife Linda of Mckinney and son Mark Sears and wife Shari of Mckinney. She is survived by grandchildren Kimberley Stephens, Todd Stephens, Kyle Stephens, Michael Sears, Shannon Sears, Cale Sears, Catherine Sears and great grandchildren Austin Stephens and Slade Stephens. V.G. graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1940. She married Lonnie Sears in Seattle, Washington on January 8, 1943. She raised her four children in North Dallas and was an early member of Midway Hills Christian Church. After her children had all left the home, she decided to attend college. In 1974, she graduated with Honors(Cum Laude) from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and minors in History and Spanish. She student taught in the Dallas Independent School District and received her high school teaching certificate on February 18, 1975. During her student teaching, she was known as the little old lady with the red Porsche. V.G. taught English as a Second Language through the DISD program as a volunteer. She loved to listen to the Ham radio and in 1985 obtained her operators license and joined the Dallas Amateur Radio Club. V.G. enjoyed traveling with her husband Lonnie, son Jack, and friends. She was also a regular attendee of the Dallas Opera. The family would like to thank all of those who helped care for V.G. during her battle with Alzheimers disease. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30PM Wednesday December 12, 2007. Services will be at Restland Memorial Chapel on December 13, 2007, at 10:00AM.
