Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Park Cemetery for Eskel Eric Sparkman, 82, of 1718 N. Lea Ave., who died Thursday at Navapache Hospital in Showlow, Ariz., from injuries suffered in an accident. The Rev. Mike Watkins of First Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Ballard Funeral Home. Mr. Sparkman was born on July 9, 1901 in Pushmataha, Okla., to Mr. and Mrs. Finis Sparkman, both now deceased. He was married April 13, 1946 in Lordsburg to Evelyn Margarita Wright, who survives him at home. A lifetime resident of Roswell, Sparkman was a retired farm laborer. Survivors include a son, Eric Sparkman, Jr. of Colorado; a stepson, Robert Parker of Washington; four daughters, Pauline Alexander of California, Sue Wolfe and Jewell Buckley, both of Illinois, and Joyce Buckley of Roswell; and a stepdaughter, Barbara Parker of Florida. Also two brothers, Hubert Sparkman and Paul Sparkman, both of California and two sisters, Grace Payne of Oklahoma and Helen France of Roswell.
