West Bend Journal, West Bend, Iowa, Thursday, December 19, 1918, Page 1, Col. 3: Death of Mr. John Newman. Mr. John Newman, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Barcloe of Ayrshire. He also made his home here with this daughter Mrs. Ell Bourret, but of late had been staying in Ayrshire. He was about eighty-eight years old and was born in Illinois. Mrs. Bourret and son, Lieut. A. W. Bourret, went to attend the funeral in Ayrshire Wednesday afternoon. Up to the time of going to press we have not been able to obtain a complete obituary, which will be published next week.
