Long, 61, of 432 Florence St., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home, the Rev. Eugene F. Kremer, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Cresco. Mr. Long died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Long died of cardiac arrest. He was born Jan. 17, 1912 in Cresco, the son of Fames and Edna Huckins Long. he lived in Waterloo for 29 years. Mr. Long was a foreman at the Rath Packing Co. for seven years, and a maintenance man at the YWCA for 19 years. He was also employed by the Mather Stock Car Co. and the Waterloo Hardware Co. For the last several years he had been self employed in salvage work. He married Elnora Medhaug on Oct. 3, 1941, in Harmony, Minn. Surviving are his wife, three sons, William of 506 Gilbert St., Max of 1040 Ann St., Martin at home; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Petersen of Readlyn, Ellen at home; five grandchildren; a brother, Charles Long of Fullerton apartments; a half brother, Arthur Shields of Cresco; three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Fisher of Anamosa, Mrs. Joseph Cordes of 1236 Virginia St., Mrs. Kenneth Shaw of Jesup. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Friends may call at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Thursday.
