Posted at findagrave.com: Sun Prairie---Cheryl Ann Gherke, age 62, passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Oak Park Place in Madison after a battle with cancer. She was born on March 14, 1947, in Stoughton and was the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Manson) Nelson. She married Roy Gherke on July 25, 1970, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. Cheryl worked for 44 years for the JP Morgan Chase Bank. She loved cooking and camping. She is survived by her husband, Roy; her sons, Jason (Shannon) of Sun Prairie, and Craig (Kristi) of Marshall; two granddaughters, Cassidy and Mackenna; a brother, David Nelson; a sister, Mary Nelson, both of Stoughton; brothers-in-law, Ron (Karla) Gherke of DeForest, and Kevin (Shelly) Gherke of Sun Prairie; sister-in-law, Marlene (Ron) Hilger of Sun Prairie; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Dave), Shawn, Corey, Kyle and Kollin; and special friends, Marlin (Sandy) Vernig. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at St. Albert The Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive, in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Terrence Connors will preside. Burial will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens Cemetery.
