Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon at the Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. M. E. Frank officiating for Orlen M. Burkitt, 76, retired Mulkeytown miner who died on Wednesday. Mr. Burkitt had been ill for a number of years and only 6 months ago had recovered somewhat from a critical attack. Mr. Burkitt was born in Christopher and is survived by his wife, the former Mary Kirkpatrick, by his stepmother, Mrs. Rosie Burkitt and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: Mary Burkitt, St. Louis, Mrs. Ransom Moore, Christopher, Lee Burkitt of California, and Snooks, Fod and Henry Burkitt of Christopher. Burial was in the Mulkeytown cemetery with the Gilbert Funeral home in charge.
