Chicago Examiner, Chicago, Illinois, Sunday, June 25, 1911, Page 3, Col. 6: Artist Dies of Burns. Mrs. E. B. Beachey Victim of Heroism Undergone for Mother. Mrs. Evelyn B. Beachey, an artist of note and teacher of ceramic painting and design at the Art Institute of Chicago, died yesterday at her home, 206 Forty-sixth street, from the effects of burn she received June 14 while trying to save her mother, Mrs. Mary A. Brackett, whose clothing caught fire from a gas stove. Mrs. Brackett succumbed to her injuries after the accident. Mrs. Beachey's work had attracted much favorable comment. In addition to her work at the Institute she maintained a studio in the Auditorium tower. Many society and club women were her pupils. Funeral services will be held to-day at 1:30.
