Geneva Louise McGowen, age 89, of Sunbury, passed away on January 20, 2015 in Westerville, Ohio following a brief illness. She was born in Gordonville, Missouri, January 29, 1925 and lived most of her adult live in Montpelier, Ohio. She spent her golden years in Bradenton, Florida, after working 25 years as a telegraph operator with the Wabash Railroad and in the Shipping Department at Robinair Manufacturing. She met Norman McGowen, the love of her life in September, 1943. They married after a lengthy two week courtship, a marriage that lasted 63 years. He preceded her in death in 2006. Geneva is survived by 3 sons, Norman McGowen Jr. (Jeretta ) in Council Grove, Kansas; Monte McGowen (Charlotte) in Sunbury, Ohio; and Randy McGowen (Sue) in Sarasota, Florida; a sister, three brothers, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Edna and Willie Peters, an infant daughter, Brenda, three sisters and a brother. Graveside service will be Saturday January 24, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Des Arc, Missouri, next to her husband in Des Arc, Missouri, with Rev. Elmo Parker officiating.
