He was 73, a native of Hickman, Ky., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Milford Walters. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Velma W. Lowry; two sons, George W. Lowry and Robert L. Lowry; a special cousin, Betty Vance Lear; and three grandchildren, Rixie Lowry, Ashleigh Lowry and Jimmy Lowry. Preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mary Lowry. Pallbearers will be T.E. Hodges, Floyd DeMars, Rip Chandler, Walter Parker, Weldon Stevens and Ray Turner. He was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church.
