Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Corpus Christi, Texas, Thursday, February 1, 1996: Refugio---James "Jug" Ulon Gilliam, a retired Quintana Petroleum Corp. office manager and a Catholic, died Jan. 31, 1996. He was 85. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Mathieu and Deanna Hubbard, both of Corpus Christi; a son, Jerry Simmons of Rockport; three sisters, Edna Winn of Taft, Oleta Kelly of Granbury and Babe Moore of Bryan; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Moore Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 2 at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
