Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Saturday, November 20, 1971, Page 10, Col. 6: John Wright Died Friday; Rites Monday. John Palmer Wright, of 1602 S. Broadway, died at 9 p.m. Friday in the Poplar Bluff Hospital. He had been ill for the past year. A life-long resident of this area, Mr. Wright was born March 3, 1985 at Hammtown. He was a retired pipeline worker and attended the Baptist church. His wife, the former Maudie Hamm, died on July 7, 1938. Surviving are: sons, Gene Wright of St. Charles, and Cecil Wright of Farmington; daughters, Mrs. Wilma Reynolds of Poplar Bluff, and Mrs. Mildred Stubbs, of Globe, Ariz.; brothers, Nathan Wright of Poplar Bluff, and Bob Wright of Wappapello; sisters, Mrs. Polly Atkins of Poplar Bluff, and Mrs. Alice Decker, of Festus; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Stuart Donneley will officiate and burial will be in the Hammtown Cemetery. Visitation starts at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
