She was born Nov. 9, 1929, in South Roxana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Evans of Bunker Hill. She was married March 9, 1950, in Jerseyville to Oness Layton, who survives. She also leaves four daughters, Mrs. Judy Hayes of Worden, Mrs. Clara Wisnisky of South Roxana, Mrs. Vera Lee Snyder of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Miss Penny Sue, at the home; five sons, Oness Wayne of Neelyville, Mo., Joseph, Mark, Harry and Charles, all at home; three brothers Robert Evans of South Roxana, Richard Evans of Bunker Hill and Bunker Hill, Harry Evans of Alton. Three sisters Mrs. Francis Thorpe of Bunker Hill, Mrs. Betty Knoche of Prairietown, and Mrs. May Ann Doeller of Glen Carbon. She was a member of the Southern Baptist church. The Rev. James Walker, pastor of Free Will Baptist Church in South Roxana, will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Burial will be in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana. Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
