Arkansas Democrat, Little Rock, Arkansas, Tuesday, December 11, 1984, Page 17, Col. 6: Bates ville---Branson Rudolph Davis, 60, of the Bethesda community died Sunday of smoke inhalation from a fire in his house that was apparently started by a wood burning stove, Independence County Coroner George W. Barnett said. Firefighters were called to Davis' rural home near Batesville at 4:55 p.m., Barnett said. Davis' body was recovered at 6:25 p.m. He was apparently asleep when his house caught fire, the coroner said. Davis was a Baptist, a retired heavy equipment operator and a Mason. Survivors include three sons, Branson Davis, Jr. of Little Rock, Stephen Davis of Batesville; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Slisher of Batesville; two brothers, Hoyt Davis of Mount Pleasant and Hubert Davis of Batesville; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Keller of Batesville; and 13 grandchildren.
