Service for William Howard Briscoe Sr., 76, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51. Cremation will follow. Mr. Briscoe, who died Thursday, was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He moved to Spokane in 1953 and worked for the Great Northern Railway and the Burlington Northern Railroad for 18 years before he retired. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51. He was married to Ella May Briscoe for 35 years and has been married to Mona Dempsey for 20 years. Mr. Briscoe is survived by his second wife, Mona; three sons, William Briscoe Jr. of Rathdrum, Idaho, Jacob Briscoe of Florida and Patrick Briscoe of Spokane; two daughters, Alice Graf of Rathdrum and Gracie Barker of Spokane; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
