He was born June 3, 1926 in Spokane, Washington to Jeremiah and Elma Dempsey. He graduated from Rogers High School and attended Kinman Business College. Elmer served in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga during WWII. He was an active member in the VFW of the U.S. Post 1435 and the Elks Lodge #228. He is survived by five children: Douglas Dempsey, Pamela (Dave) McKay, Gregory (Roxann) Dempsey, Janet Fry, and Michael (Jessica) Dempsey. He is also survived by grandchildren: Gregory Jr (Kim), Tanya (Matt), Janell, Lindsay, Shane, Logan,Colleen, and Thomas; great-grandchildren Connor, Quentin, and Owen; three siblings: Gerry Boston, Elton Dempsey, and Harold Dempsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Gladys Dempsey, Laurel Dempsey, and Marian Hodgins. There wasn't a car he couldn't sell or friend he couldn't make. Honorary member of the Mickey Mouse Club. Bon Voy Age on the paddle wheel"Gladys Jean". A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home,RAL HOME, 1306 N. PINES RD., Spokane Valley, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW 1435, S. 212 David, Spokane Valley, Washington 99212, Attn: Andy Anderson.
