Northern Wyoming Daily News, Worland, Wyoming, Wednesday, November 30, 2011, Page 2: BASIN - Ronald Val Fletcher Sims, 72, passed away at his home in Basin on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. Ron was born May 3, 1939 at Grenville, N. M. to John William Sims and Christene Clason Sims. Christene later married John Cullen Fletcher who adopted Ron in 1944. He received his schooling in Greybull and Bakersfield, Calif. Ron met and married the love of his life, Barbara Lee Morris, on Sept. 14, 1956 at Basin. To this union six children were born. Ron and Barbara raised their family in California. In 2000, the couple moved back to Basin. Ron loved anything with four wheels. You could find him underneath a car working on it at any time of the day or night. He was a mechanic, a school bus driver and trainer, and truck driver during his working years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He played golf in his later years. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara of Basin; his children, Naomi Jo Dotson, Nancy Jane Wheeler, Natalie Jill Reese, Neal John Sims and Nicole Janine Kendrick all of California and Nelson Jay Sims of Basin; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Valerie, Courtney, Curtis, Jan and Keith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Per Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. His ashes will be taken back to California and buried near his mother. Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
