The San Bernardino County Sun, San Bernardino, California, Thursday, January 21, 1954, page 27: Ethel Grace Herbert Claimed by Death. Mrs. Ethel Grace Herbert, 55, wife of Detective Lt. Sidney H. Herbert at the San Bernardino Sheriff's office, died Wednesday morning at their home, 716 Edgehill Rd., San Bernardino. A native and lifelong resident of the city, Mrs. Herbert died following a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late George K. Sherlock, prominent San Bernardino businessman. She was a member of the San Bernardino Women's Club and the Sheriff's Auxiliary. Additional survivors are her mother, Mrs. Hattie L. Sherlock of San Bernardino; twin sisters, Mrs. Wendell Osgood of Los Angeles, and sisters, Mr. Clarence Knuckel and Miss Helen Sherlock of San Bernardino. Private funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday from the chapel of Stephens and Bobbitt Funeral Home with Dr. Boyce Van Osdel officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
