A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, in Skyline Funeral Home for Helen Mae Turner, who died Feb. 10 of congestive heart failure at age 83. Helen Mae Turner was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Elmdale, Mont. She moved to Portland in 1942 to work in the Portland shipyards as a riveter and was later included in the book "Rosie the Riveter Stories." After the war, she was a civilian secretary for the U.S. Navy and then a program management assistant for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for 20 years. She also taught ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray Studios in Portland and was director of the studio in Vancouver. She was a member and soloist for Montavilla Methodist Church. She moved to Lacey, Wash., in 1981. In 1948, [1949] she married Paul Toenjes; they divorced. Survivors include her brothers, Donald and Norman. Remembrances to World Vision.
