John H. was born 14 Nov 1790 in York County, SC, and died 19 Sep 1858 in Decatur County, IN. He married on 14 Nov 1820, in Bond County, Illinois to Mary ("Polly") Robins (or Robbins), daughter of William and Bethiah (Vickery) Robbins. Mary was born 1791 and died in 1851. They moved to Decatur County, IN. John was bondsman for the marriage of his brother Josiah to Nancy (Chowning) Telford in 1819 in Wilson County, TN. Along with his brother Josiah, John served in the Seminole War in 1818 under Andrew Jackson. National Archives record that "John H. Killpatrick" served as a private in Barton's 1st Volunteer Mounted Gunmen of West Tennessee.
