Daily Illinois State Journal, Springfield, Illinois, Saturday, October 25, 1884, Page 7, Col. 5 & 6, (From The Pleasant Plains Budget): Pleasant Plains, Ill., Oct. 24.---Died this morning at the age of 82 years, 10 months and five days, Mrs. Mary A. Epler, wife of Jacob Epler, father and founder of this village. Mrs. Epler was the daughter of Charles and [covered by black ink] 20, 1827, in Clark county, Indiana. They moved to Morgan county, this State in October, 1829, and afterwards came to Sangamon county, where they have lived for 33 years. Aunt Polly, as she was family known, was the mother of nine children, ,five of whom survive her, two sons and three daughters of which Mrs. Jennie Gilham lives in Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Sarah McCoy, in Missouri and Mrs. Anna Terrell, in Jacksonville, Ill., and two sons, John T. and Stephen A., still live in Sangamon county. Mrs. Epler was a faithful and loving wife, a good and indulgent mother, and a kind neighbor. Her death is mourned by a hot of relatives and friends, and the bereaved husband and sorrow stricken children have the condolence and heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. The funeral services will be held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. W. F. Short will officate.
