From the Southern Illinoisan, Thursday, December 19, 1963: Mrs. Nellie Menees Dies in Hospital. Mrs. Nellie Elizabeth Menees, 76, of 308 North Green St., Anna, died Wednesday in Union County Hospital after an illness of one week. She was born Feb. 16, 1887, in DeWitt, Mo., daughter of Elbert Kirkpatrick and Mary Haire. She married Alvin Menees on July 3, 1906, at Cape Girardeau, Mo. They once operated the county farm in Union County. Mrs. Menees leaves her husband, one son, Robert Menees of Cobden; and one granddaughter. She was a member of the Saratoga Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McCarty Funeral Home, Anna with Rev. John L. Graham officiating. Burial will be in Anna cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
