Allene Brooks

Erie Times-News, Erie, Pennsylvania, Sunday, May 17, 1998: Corry---Allene B. Hosier, 90, formerly of Corry, died at St. Mary's Home of Erie, Friday, May 15, 1998. She was born in Corry Jan. 16, 1908, a daughter of the late Lorenzo D. and Belle Sessions Brooks. Mrs. Hosier attended the Pennsylvania State Business College in Harrisburg, then graduated with a degree in business education from Susquehanna University. She taught business classes in Meadville for six years. She live in the Lakewood and Jamestown, N.Y. area for a short time. In 1940 she returned to Corry and worked for the Pennsylvania Gas Co. for 15 years. She then taught business classes in Wattsburg and Union City. She retired in 1974. Mrs. Hosier won a Wall Street Journal Scholarship and attended business classes at the University of Iowa in the summer of 1961. She has lived in the Erie area since 1992. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and was a member and past president of the Erie County Retired Teachers Association. She was yearbook Faculty adviser in Union City and a former member of the Christian Daughters of America. She enjoyed gardening and all type of crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lawrence C. Hosier, on August 10, 1987. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Dolores) Fargo of Corry and Mrs. Stanley (Janice) Bradway of Erie; a son, Richard Hosier of Franklin; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home in Corry Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a funeral service there Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. William Kuba of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
