Elmo Glenn Stryker

Elmo Glenn Stryker was born June 2, 1905 to Gleen E. and Grace Stryker at Rising City, Nebraska. He died at his home at Callaway on October 18, 1969 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 16 days. He came to Callaway with his parents in 1919. He was married to Alvaretta McFate on April 8, 1926. To this union two children were born. Elmo has been a rancher-farmer all his life. He loved these hills. Often a ride through them would encourage expression of a natural talent he had for poetry. He loved his family and friends and will be remembered as a good neighbor. He was a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn E. Stryker, and by a son, Lynn Leon Stryker and a sister, Amy. (Mrs. Ivan Griffith). Survivors include his wife Alvaretta, his son LaVern of Callaway, his daughter-in-law Karen, his grandchildren, Tad, Lance, Dirk and Jeana Stryker, his mother Mrs. Grace Stryker of Callaway, sisters Fern (Mrs. George Frederick of Callaway; Laura (Mrs. Bob Pierce) of Oconto; Lois, (Mrs. Kermit Paxton) of Stapleton; Marjorie (Mrs. Walter Bassett) of North Platte; a brother William Stryker of Callaway; other relatives and friends. Services were held in the United Methodist Church at Callaway, Nebraska on Wednesday October 22, 1969 at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Richard Urbach officiating. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Don Swanson with Mrs. Charles Axtell as organist. Honorary Paull bearers were George Bonds, Roy Klinkman, Henry Bonds, Clarence Brabham, Owen Ross, Harold Ross, Ernest Bailey and Charles Breuer. Active pall bearers were Allen Pierce, Note Joe McFate, Charles Patterson, Donald Stryker, Paul Griffith and Gary Wilcher. Interment was in the Stop Table Cemetery, Callaway, Nebr. The Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
