Bottom was born Dec. 4, 1914, in Bogard, Miss., [Missouri] to Oze And Iva Bottom. He attended high school in Parker, Kan., and lived in Tillamook before moving to Eugene. He worked as a sawyer for Weyerhaeuser. Bottom was a tinker who liked to sharpen saws. He was a member of the International Wood Workers of America. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Curry of Roseburg and Alice Stanley of Red Bluff, Calif., three sons, Fred of Marysville, Calif., Robert of Harrisburg and David of Eugene, a sister, Evelyn Rude of Vancouver, Wash., nine grandchildren. Monday's funeral will be at 10 a.m. at Poole Funeral Home in Eugene. Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Diabetes Association.
