Mary May (Crum) Herbert, daughter of Floyd and Currant (McCormick) Crum was born on May 31, 1917 at Auburn, NE. Mary was one of 3 children. She received her education at the Auburn Public Schools. Mary came to Blue Belle Lodge in Custer State Park, Custer, South Dakota to help her Aunt run it. There she met and married Stanley Herbert on the family’s homestead outside of Custer. Mary and Stanley had no children but had many nieces and nephews who came to join them in their “beloved hills” every summer. Both so proud of their state, many memories are re-lived time and time again from visits to Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave and Bear County and favorite place of Stanley's.
