The Roanoke Times, Roanoke, Virginia, Wednesday, September 3, 1997, Metro Edition, Page B 2: Duggar, Lorraine Daye Sherer, 62, of Roanoke, died Sunday, August 24, 1997, at her home following a long bout with cancer. A native of Jasper, Ala., Mrs. Duggar had lived in the Roanoke area for the past several years. She was active in Roanoke's Church of the Holy Spirit, Bible Study Fellowship, and Christian Women's Club, and worked as a tour guide for Abbott Tours. She is survived by her mother, Bessie Kirkpatrck Sherer, and brother J.R. Sherer, III and his wife Terah, all of Jasper, Ala. Also survivng are her daughter, Leah Cameron Duggar Wright and husband Alan of Florence, Ala.; son James Russell Duggar and wife Kaye, of Jasper, Ala.; son Robert Gerald Duggar, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Keli Duggar and Kelly Duggar; and three grandsons, Brian Duggar, Hayden Wright, and Peyton Lindley. Funeral services were held at the Kilgore-Greene Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26, 1997 in Jasper, Ala., and her cremains were interred in her Sherer family plot at the Walker Memorial Gardens near Jasper.
