Kathryn H. Barkson, age 74, of Pontoon Beach, died at 1:31 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born on Dec. 14, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Waldo Barkson. She is survived by a sister: Josephine "Jody" Klein and husband, Ronald of Berthoud, Colo.; three nephews: Joe Barkson of Monticello, Ga., Bert Barkson of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard Lichlyter-Klein of Paxton; a niece: Jackie Klein of Loveland, Colo. ; a sister-in- law: Norma Barkson of Monticello, Ga.; and several great- nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Alfred Barkson. Ms. Barkson was retired from the U.S. Air Force and Civil Service. Her memberships included the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville and was a board member of the Madison County Historical Society. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m . to 12:30 p.m . on Friday, April 20, at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville with Rev. Dr. John Hembruch, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or Madison County Historical Society.
