Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday, at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home, North Davis Dr., Arlington. Foy was born March 23, 1925, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1942. He then attended Abilene Christian University, receiving a bachelor of arts in Bible and Greek in 1946. Foy was in Alpha Chi and in the American Colleges Who's Who. He also enjoyed singing in the Abilene Christian a cappella choir under the direction of Dr. Leonard Burford. Upon graduation from ACU, Foy served as assistant minister of the Church of Christ in Trinidad, Colo. Then in 1947 he returned to Fort Worth, where he began his graduate work in Christian education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also completed a master's degree in education from North Texas State University. Foy married the love of his life, Mary Catherine McKillip, in 1948 at Riverside Church of Christ in Fort Worth. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Feb. 19, 2006. From 1949 to 1954, Foy was a Bible professor and a fund raiser for Southwestern Christian College at Terrell. After completing his graduate work, he served as academic dean of Fort Worth Christian College from 1960 to 1971, and minister of education at Riverside Church of Christ in Fort Worth. In 1971, Foy joined the Bible Department at Lubbock Christian University; he retired from LCU in l994. One of his favorite classes was always Christian Evidences. While in Lubbock, Foy served as an elder at the Monterey Church of Christ for 22 years. After retirement from Lubbock Christian University, Foy served as interim academic dean for almost two years at International Christian University in Vienna, Austria. One of Foy's special interests was Christian Evidences. He enjoyed hiking in Grand Canyon with a group of geologists, studying the rock layers, and many other studies. Another very special interest was Christian education. He taught in many teacher-training workshops around the nation and was also on the staff of The Christian Teacher, a Bible teachers' magazine, for several years. Throughout his career, Foy served as pulpit minister at churches of Christ in Mesquite, El Paso, Sherman and Rhome. Love of God and family were always Foy's main focus, and he made many special friends through the years. He was a very loving, caring, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Walter and Ruby Kirkpatrick; daughter, Carol Anne Prindle; and his great-granddaughter, Demory Kirkpatrick. Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Mary Kirkpatrick of Arlington; daughter, Elaine Fuqua and husband, Ron, of Dallas; son, Paul and wife, Karen, of Greeley, Colo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Harvey Kirkpatrick and wife, Pat, of Eugene, Oregon.
