The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, Tuesday, February 7, 1989: Mr Ernest Gamble Or Buck Davis, 73, of 4001 Ridgecrest Ave. died Feb. 6, 1989, at home. Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Thomasboro Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte chapel. Mr. Davis, a High Shoals native, was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was retired superintendent for the City of Charlotte motor transport department, retiring in 1977 after 40 years. He was a Paw Creek High School graduate. He was a deacon, elder and choir member at his church. He also was a Vangard Sunday school class teacher. Survivors are his wife, Jean; son, Ernest Davis Jr.; daughters, Mrs. Sheryn Faucette of Fredericksburg, Va., Mrs. Jennifer McKellop; sisters, Mrs. Mabel McCord of Watkinsville, Ga., Mrs. Bessie Walker, Mrs. Mary Bennett; five grandchildren.
