On the 1940 Census of Butler Co., Missouri Mildred and her sister Georgie Rose were living with their grandparents Grant and Rachel Crewse.
The Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, October 12, 1992: Mildred Jewel Ham Pitt, 70, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1992, at AMI Lucy Lee Hospital. She had suffered a stroke Thursday. Mrs. Pitt was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Rombauer. She assisted her husband in his produce business, Bob's Market, until their retirement in 1967. She was of the Baptist faith. On Oct. 12, 1940, she was married to Robert E. Pitt. He died April 20, 1969. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Pitt of Poplar Bluff and Robert Pitt of Vibernum; two daughters, Bettie Raulston of Poplar Bluff and Frances Strickland of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Adam Belmont Ham of Panaca, Nev., two sisters, Rachel Harrelson of Panaca, Nev., and Georgia Rose Davis of Batesville, Ark..; 11 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today at the Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Z. J. Hefner and Rev. Hardin Tom officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
