Truitt, 35, formerly of Atchison, who died Sunday following surgery at the Great Lakes naval hospital. Burial will be in the national cemetery there. He was a lieutenant in the naval reserve and conducted a greenhouse at Fort Scott, where he raised market tomatoes in water and chemicals. He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy Reece of Atchison; two sons, Gary, 13 and Artie, jr., 11; a daughter, Dorothy, 3; a half brother, Charles Haegelin, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. George (Virginia) Newell, Stillwater, Okla., his parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Haegelin, jr., Oklahoma City, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. August Haegelin sr., Atchison. Remembered in Atchison as a juvenile dancer, he was a graduate of the Atchison High School and served in the navy during World War II.
