Clifford LeRoy McCool

Lawrence Journal-World, Lawrence, Kansas, June 17, 1995: Services for Clifford L. McCool, 76, Piper, will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. He will be cremated. Mr. McCool died Thursday, June 15, 1995, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1919, in Big Four Mines, Pa., the son of Samuel B. and Kathryn A. Thompson McCool. He grew up in Butler, Pa., served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 and was a carman for the Rock Island and Pacific Southern railroads. He retired in 1980 after 35 years of railroad work. Mr. McCool was a member of the Transportation Carmen Union local No. 6363 in Kansas City, Kan., and of American Legion Post No. 58, Topeka. He also was a member of the senior league at the Ranch West Bowl Center in Kansas City, Kan. He married Alice D. Clason on Sept. 4, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Clifford Jr., Gunnison, Colo., and Tom, Lansing; two daughters, Martha Krumm, Edmond, Okla., and Mary Tamayo, Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Mae Campbell and Cathryn Christy, both of Butler, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends may visit from 2 p.m. Sunday until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Assn., the Kidney Foundation or the American Lung Assn. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
