Leenel G. Denham

Pocatello Tribune, Pocatello, Idaho, Sunday, June 13, 1948, page 5 column 6, 7, 8: Local School Official Dies. Mrs. Leenel G. Kirkpatrick principal of Whittier grade school and Pocatello school teacher since 1920 died in a Pocatello hospital early Saturday morning after a brief illness. Of her sudden death, George N. Green, superintendent of schools said, "she had served as principal and teacher in the Pocatello schools for approximately 28 years and had always been superior and faithful to all routine and detail. The schools feel a loss in Mrs. Kirkpatrick's death." Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the McHanHendedrson funeral chapel with Dr. J. Willis Hamblin, pastor of the first Presbyterian church of which she was a member in charge. The body will be taken to Lodi, Calif. for graveside services and interment in the family plot in the Woodbridge cemetery. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born May 14, 1889 in Albany, Ore., a daughter of William Shelby and Frances Tracy Denham. She was an honor student at the University of Colorado, graduating in 1921. She has been principal of the Whittier school in Pocatello for about 10 years at two intervals. She was married to A. C. Kirkpatrick in August 1930, in Salt Lake City and is survived by her husband; a niece Mrs. Eddie Zimmers, Racine, Wis., and a nephew, Capt. Wm. Denham, U.S. Army pilot.
